Activity Area for the development and coordination of the National Library Service catalogue and network
The Activity Area for the development and coordination of the National Library Service catalogue and network:
- promotes and coordinates the SBN network, providing assistance, advice and support to SBN libraries and hubs in every stage of their activities, both in technical-librarianship and organizational terms, and collaborates with the General Directorate as regards the stipulation of agreements
- coordinates all activities related to the maintenance, correction, improvement and evolution of the SBN Central System (from now on also: SBN Index) and the development of the hub application softwares of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism, and runs the ICCU Data Processing Centre
- provides assistance to companies engaged in establishing a dialogue with the SBN Index, from the test to the certification phase
- is in charge of training activities related to the fields of its own competence
- is in charge of the Secretariat of the SBN National Committee
