Research and working group on cultural heritage metadata

The Working Group, set up by ICCU in February 2012, includes among its goals the ongoing of the activities carried out by the MAG Committee and in particular it provides help in applying the MAG standards, the standard maintenance and the recovery of the output of local metadata applications.
Another goal is the activation of new research and activity fields oriented to Linked Open Data principles for the linking of structured data, the Semantic Weband the description standards for web resource aggregations.

At present, the Group is analyzing the schema.org initiative, an agreement among the major search engines for the codification of data RDF language within  normal HTML pages. This is an effective answer  to the problem of the “marginality” of OPAC systems, most of which are inaccessible to search engines.
