MetaFAD. Integrated management system of cultural heritage

MetaFAD. Integrated management system of cultural heritage

What is it: a modular software that enables you to describe archives, art collections and libraries in a single integrated environment, enabling the immediate use on the web.
A multi-standard platform released under open source license.

How it is born: the needs of five major cultural institutions Neapolitan and thanks to the scientific collaboration of the Central Institutes of MIBACT: ICCU, ICAR and ICCD.

What it does: it manages and facilitates the work processes related to the description and enhancement of heritage: from cataloging to digitization; use the web to the provision of services to users. Cultural properties are described through a structured database system based on the standard domain. A powerful and versatile DAM (Digital Asset Management System) provides the tools to manage the integrated digital objects with the description of the Heritage while their dissemination is provided by a Web Portal, an OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) and Open Data repository integrated.

For who it is thought: Cultural institutions, Archives, Libraries, Museums, Local Authorities and Universities that have the need to organize its services and describe, even in integrated forms, their heritage, making it accessible to the public in digital form, respecting the standard and operational directions of ICCU, ICAR and ICCD.

From acquisition to fruition: one environment, a single access point. An institution that chooses metaFAD can, with a single instrument, describing its assets in compliance with the quality requirements necessary for its use on the web and for its dissemination as open data and simplifying the entire cycle of operations and access to cultural heritage.
