Europeana Awareness

Europeana Awareness (2012-2015) is a network of best practices coordinated by the Europeana Foundation; ICCU is among its 48 partners.

The main goal of this project is to promote Europeana at every level: users, cultural operators, politicians and cultural organizations in each one of the member states. It also aims to encourage cultural institutions themselves to add new, high-quality content to their national portals and to Europeana.
Europeana Awareness also intends to demonstrate the economic potential of digital cultural heritage and its re-use for research, learning and tourism purposes.
One of the project strong suits is the involvement of users through the organization of the so-called collection days devoted to the collection of cultural objects (and to the stories involving them); in Italy this event will be organized by one of the Italian Partners, the Trentino History Museum Foundation, and will focus on the Great War.
Within Europeana Awareness, ICCU serves as a link with CulturaItalia promotional activities.
