The General Directorate for Libraries and Cultural Institutes has established a Coordinating Committee in order to translate the new Anglo American cataloguing rules, RDA (Resource Description and Access) and has entrusted ICCU to establish a Technical Working Group whose task is the translation of RDA.

The Committee plays both a steering role as regards the translation carried out by the Technical Working Group and also acts as a link to the Joint Steering Committee for development of RDA (JSC), thus promoting dialogue between Italian library institutions and the international cataloguing context.

 

On 31 March 2014 an agreement has been signed by ICCU and ALA Publishing (American Library Association) for distributing the Italian edition both in hard copy  and in digital version.

The technical Working Group is made up of  various library and university institutions and cataloguing agencies.

The Italian version was published in RDA Toolkit in March 2016; in June the Working Group started  updating activities, on the basis of the new versions of RDA, that ALA publishes every year in RDA Toolkit.
